This page lists past community events hosted by the City of Cambridge or CRA staff regarding The Foundry's programming and redevelopment strategy.

Today’s vision for the Foundry was formed as a result of several years of conversations among Cambridge community members. From 2013-2018, the City and the CRA held public forums in which the community voiced support for redevelopment of the Foundry into an innovative multi-purpose center, creating a collaborative environment with a mix of cultural, educational, and commercial uses, consistent with the zoning requirements. Some of the suggested ideas have included multi-generational community uses, programs for early childhood and youth development, opportunities for mentorship, internship, apprenticeship, workforce training, and education in the areas of science, technology, engineering, arts, and math ("STEAM"), which would serve a broad sector of Cambridge residents.

We deactivated our Foundry CoUrbanize page in September 2019 as we no longer needed its survey function. However, you can still scroll through posts from 2017 - 2019.

In 2019, The Foundry Consortium, the nonprofit Operator for the Foundry conducted a survey of Cambridge community members, regarding what might bring them to the Foundry.

Information on earlier Foundry redevelopment work can be explored here.
