The Cambridge Redevelopment Authority’s Forward Fund (the Fund) is a grant program created in 2015, to invest development funds generated in the Kendall Square Urban Redevelopment Area, into projects led by non-profit organizations and community groups in the City of Cambridge.
The Fund’s goal is to provide financial assistance for capital infrastructure projects that will improve or maintain the quality, efficiency, and accessibility of organizations that provide services for the benefit of the City's residents, workers, and visitors.
Over the past few years, the CRA has provided over $1,000,000 in grants, which have supported 105 projects. These projects have ranged in scope from public art murals, innovative bike parking solutions, a financial literacy center, upgrades to a food pantry, and more.
The Forward Fund launched its 2024 grant program in April 2024. Capital Infrastructure Grant applications were reviewed twice during the year. The first review cycle began on April 1st and ended on June 14th, while the second review cycle began on July 1st and concluded on September 27th. Feasibility Study applications were received and reviewed on a rolling basis from April 1st until September 27, 2024.
In total 10 organizations with 11 projects were awarded $465,000 in Capital Infrastructure Grants. Additionally, 3 organizations were awarded $35,000 in Feasibility Study grants.
The Forward Fund looks forward to re-launching in Early 2025!
